Sitting on the Fence

fencesFences are structures that encloses an area. They are known to create a boundary, separate places and in some cases, they separate people. Yet other times, we most times sit on the fence, wondering where to go, which choice to make, what to do. Sometimes the decision seem too hard to make, other times we are faced with conflicting loyalties. Our hearts and minds are divided as both options seem to have some attracting aspects for us.

So we choose to sit on the fence. Sitting on the fence is defined as the act  “to delay making a decision when you have to choose between two sides in an argument or a competition” We become double-standard and double-minded. Yet this is not enough.

There comes a time when you have to make a choice.  You can not always be blown between two sides all the time. The bible says in Matthew 6:24 “No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. ” As Christians, there comes a time when we have to really dedicate our lives to God completely. We have to choose if we belong to the world or to God. If we want to satisfy our own selfish desires or heed to the will of God and allow Him to work in our lives. God´s word is so clear in this matter of making a choice. “So, because you are lukewarm–neither hot nor cold–I am about to spit you out of my mouth.”  in Revelations 3:16

When we are making a choice,  we should make sure we make the right choice. “There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way to death. ” We should choose life over death. We should “Enter by the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many. ” This is  choice we each, individually make on our own.
